Catching up
I have realised to my horror that I have not update this blog for 3 months, kind of defeats the object of the exercise I know.
A lot has happened since the last update, here is a brief summary:-
A lot has happened since the last update, here is a brief summary:-
- A good friend and customer at work, Chris "Bob the builder" Ford from Barnsley killed himself in November. It was totally out of the blue and a big shock to everyone. Chris (Or Bob as I called him) always used to wind me up about the progress I was making on my scooters and would always offer to buy them off me cheap, finish them and sell them back to me for a profit. R.I.P. Bob mate, god bless.
- Got another Series 2 for a project, sold most of the things off it that I don't need and managed to break even but still have the frame, forks, legshields, tank, rear mudguard and toolbox door. Worked out OK then!
- Bought a cheap Li series 3 that had no frame number. Needed a few bits off it but sold the rest of the parts and broke even again. I suppose if I was working out how much time I had put in to strip it then I would have made a loss but my spare time is free (but in short supply).
- My girlfriend found out we are expecting our first baby in July. To say this changes your priorities is an understatement. Most of my spare time recently has been spent sorting things out for the baby so progress has been slow on the scooters.
- I went down to London just before Christmas to drop presents off to friends etc and went to collect the horncast and side panels from my series 2. I put the whole scooter in for spraying in 1998 just before I moved to Yorkshire and when I collected it in 2000 the panels and horncast weren't ready. So this was the first chance I had had to collect the stuff. I got there and they hadn't painted the inside of the panels. Doh! So I had to leave them there for now. This hasn't put me off the sprayer at all, in fact one of my other scooters is still there waiting for me to get my finger out and decide on paint.
