It's been a long time.....
Sorry to anyone who looks at my site regularly and has been disappointed with the lack of updates - well I have been busy but not with scooters.
My son William John Hepworth was born on the 25th of July 2005. When people say "Your life will never be the same when you have kids" you just go "Yeah yeah yeah" but believe me, it is true. It is so true that in fact nothing anyone can do or say can even begin to prepare you for the change. Gone are trips to the cinema, popping out quickly ANYWHERE, spare time etc. I wouldn't have it any other way though, I love him to bits.
Since William was born I had managed only half an hour in the garage, this was just to put away some stuff that had been cluttering the house. This is in comparison to an average of about 8-10 hours I would manage every weekend before he was born.
So today I sent him and his Mum out for a walk while the weather was nice and I hit the garage.
I didn't actually get a lot done as it was such a nice day and I ended up sat out in the sun relaxing.
The garage is an absolute mess. It is so untidy that you daren't put something down for fear of it vanishing never to be seen again. Yes it is hard to mislay something like a frame or an exhaust but it is little things like gudgeon pins and gaskets.
Therefore I spent a lot of the time measuring the garage and the shed with a view to having a good tidy up to get it sorted out. I NEED to be able to walk into the garage and do a job in the time I have, at the moment I have to move stuff around to get in, find the stuff I need and then try and do the job. Quite frustrating but moreso now I have less time. So I am going to splash some cash and buy some racking. Then I can sort out all the project scooters with all that scooters bits in a tray next to it. This should stop me losing stuff.
The other thing I am thinking of doing is making the shed into a workshop and making the garage more storage.
The shed is brickbuilt and would be quite cosy. I have just got to see if the stuff in the shed can go into the garage. It is a balancing act!!
I've been busy buying a few scooter parts on ebay while I haven't been able to work on the scooters.
I picked up a nice inline spare wheel carrier and also a foglight for the "s type lookalike" I am going to do with my 125 special. I also got a liquid cooled cylinder head for that unknown project where I might need a liquid cooled cylinder head!!
I also got hold of a couple of prototype GT cylinder kits. The kit has been out for a while and I have been saving up for one but I got the two kits on a very good deal. They both need looking at before they will run but as you know I like tinkering. For prototypes they are very well made and I know the finished kits are even better. I know someone with one who is getting 100 miles to the gallon and cruising at about 65mph with one. With fuel economy like that I could commute to work! You can read more about the GT kits here - http://www.granturismo.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/
I have found a site called flickr where you can upload pictures really easily to use on sites like this, I think you can link it into this site so when I upload the picture it can update the site. I will have to look into it.
Next update should involve before during and after pictures of the "sort out". If I find any stuff I don't want I will list it on here before I put it on ebay!
