The benefits of having more space

Managed to get out into the garage for a few hours yesterday. There is a bit more space than normal as the 125 special frame is in the car and one of the series 2 frames is away with Mike Phoenix scooters getting jiggy with his frame jig.
I took both frames there last week and they kindly did the 125 special frame while I waited. They said it was one of the straightest frames they has seen. Only needed hitting with a big hammer a few times!

Basically they jig involves checking three things are in alignment - the fork stem, the engine mount tube and the rear shocker mount. Once they are happy with these they can look at things like the floorboard struts etc.

Anyway, the temporary extra space allowed me to have a good sort out. I put the spanish cutdown onto one of the mobile stands. With the forks in it's too heavy to lift around so it can stay on there until I am ready to put the engine in. The more I look at the cutdown the less I like it - not sure what to do with it really. The way I have done it is that it's half way between a cutdown and chopper. It can't make up its mind what it wants to be!

Cleared off a load of crap from the hydraulic work bench. The series 2 125 is on there now, while I swap over the crankcase side. The engine in it is a GP150 with a GP crankcase side. I have worked out I am on a hiding to nothing trying to get a series 2 kickstart shaft to fit onto a GP crankcase side.
So off came the crankcase side and I partially stripped the clutch as I need to change the pressure plate. The crankcase side to go on there has to go away for vapour blasting then it can go on.

Been buying a few bits and bobs, a lovely remade ancillotti elvington seat. They were always very rare and scootopia remade a small batch.
I've also picked up a few sprint racks for various projects.

So after yesterday I am nearly where I want to be with the garage - it's uncluttered enough to be able to walk in and do a job without having to climb over stuff or move scooters out!
